Welcome to Thorplands Primary School

Thorplands Primary is an inclusive school which concentrates on providing excellent learning and teaching so that every child can achieve their very best as well rounded individuals: prepared & ready for the next phase of their education. In partnership with our parents and community, we aim to develop children who are passionate about learning, aspirational about their future and conduct themselves responsibly within their local and wider communities.

At Thorplands Primary School we aim to:

  • Have fun learning new knowledge and skills so that children are well prepared academically and socially for the next phase of their education.
  • Nurture creative, resilient lifelong lovers of learning who seek challenge & have high aspirations for their futures.
  • Enable children to become healthy, responsible & respectful citizens of the school, local community and World, who seek opportunity to make a difference.

The values which underpin all we do are: aspiration; collaboration and integrity.

We never give up and enjoy pursuing new knowledge. We are resilient in our goals and are solution focused. We take responsibility for our learning and challenge ourselves to try new things. We know that knowledge is best gained through talking, listening & reading.

We do the right thing because it is the right thing to do. We are committed to helping our school and community be the best it can be. Our rules relate to our value of integrity: be readybe respectful and be safe.

We are respectful, polite and courteous at all times. We work together as a team to help each other and are always seeking to include everyone. We are diverse and we celebrate our similarities and differences.

Our Mission

To achieve our vision, our mission as a school is to create a working environment where everyone can thrive professionally & personally. Where professional learning ensures our teachers provide excellent, inclusive teaching & learning experiences to all children. To develop curriculum leaders who ensure that our curriculum: builds rich schemas of knowledge; provides opportunities to participate in discussion & debate; ensures wonderful experiences which opens children’s minds to a variety of opportunities.

What makes us unique?

Thorplands serves a wonderfully diverse community and we are committed to ensuring everyone feels welcomed and respected for who they are. We foster warm relationships with all members of our community and this ensures children feel happy in school and comfortable to be themselves.
